Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha also called Gugu Mbatha-Raw, is a popular British stage and stage actor which gained more attention after she starred in"Doctor Who" (a British science-fiction TV show) series aired on the BBC channel. Gugu was a huge success on the show, as she played Tish Jones. Tish is the sister of Martha Jones. Her mother worked at home, and her father sold used cars. Her mother came to the United States in 1958, as an immigrant from Germany. Cancer of the breast was diagnosed in 1989. Her death came a decade after battling cancer. Handler is a Reform Jew Her father was Jewish. Handler had a pleasant good, healthy and safe childhood in a good neighbourhood. Her move to Los Angeles when she was 19, in order to pursue a career in acting. Handler had to turn into an actress to make ends meet. Handler's ability to write stories came into play at the age of 21. Handler then decided to make a full-time commitment to stand up comedy. Handler began her professional career being a part of the female-only Oxygen team, and was a part of a television show called Girls Behaving Badly. The series was famous for its secret camera and humorous jokes. This show aired from 2002 to 2005. The host then appeared on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler appeared on The Tonight Show for a time as a reporter. Her breakthrough came in 2006, when she was able to host her own program on E! This show was named The Chelsea Handler. The show ran for 2 seasons. Handler was a part of the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour the following time across the United States. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend and HBO have broadcast Handler's standup shows. In 2010, she announced that she would host at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. She became the first female host in the same category as Roseanne.
